This body of work addresses some decisions I've faced in my late 20's and early 30's, and also some childhood memories of Christmas. While constructing these sculptures, I imagined stacked presents under a Christmas tree and various toys, specifically rusted and faded Matchbox cars. I then took this image and created wooden blocks salvaged from Chicago demolition sites and assembled the blocks into towers. The vertical stacking gives the sculptures an element of strength and also a sense of movement; two are on wheels and the third I imagine to roll away. This duality represents beginning and endings, and the uncertainty I sometimes feel about my own life decisions.
